Under the artistic direction of Gustav Kuhn and Andreas Schett, the Hayden Orchestra of Bolzano and Trento will perform, along with a great number of artists from South Tyrol and Italy and of course international stars, including Daniel Schnyder and Dave Taylor.
The programme is devoted to Gustav Mahler’s notion of Gesamtkunst or synthesis of the arts: composition – reshaping classical forms – new directions.
The South Tyrol Festival, at the foot of the Dolomites, seeks to achieve a harmonious synthesis, encompassing the rich tonal variety of the music, the radiant beauty of nature in autumn and the charm of the Cultural Centre Grand Hotel Toblach. To use the words of Gustav Mahler: “It’s wonderful here! Just now!”
The IMS-International Mountain Summit® is an international platform which discusses, celebrates and casts a new light on the mountains in all their different facets.
The mountains are just as diverse as their admires and climbers: They are both living space for people and a habitat for nature. All at the same time, they have market potential and offer individual challenges.
Being one of nature’s incredible marvels, they open the eyes of individuals and leave their mark on entire cultures.
Thanks to its location in the heart of the Alps, South Tyrol is the ideal host for this comprehensive summit event dedicated to the mountains. With the city of Brixen/Bressanone, the IMS has chosen a very special venue at the foot of a stunning and proud UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site: the Dolomites.
Ski Cross (also known as skiercross or skier-X) is a relatively new type of skiing competition. In a time trial or qualification round, every competitor skis down the course, which is built to encompass both naturally occurring terrain and artificial features like jumps, rollers, banks — whatever the course builder can imagine.
After the time trial, the fastest 16 (in women's events) or 32 skiers (in men's events) compete in a knockout (KO)-style series in rounds of four. A group of four skiers start simultaneously and attempt to reach the end of the course. The first two to cross the finish line will advance to the next round. At the end, the final and small final rounds determine 1st to 4th and 5th to 8th places, respectively.
